Our breeding program began in 1991 with just a couple of AQHA and APHA mares. A few years later, with the purchase of the APHA stallion "A Breeze of Class" (sired by the world reknown "Ris Key Business" both now deceased) we started shifting more towards APHA cow horses. Just a few years after that (early 2000's) our dream of having a multiple world champion came true with the purchase of Ris Key Business himself!! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that we will cherish forever.

In 2009 we bred most of our tobiano daughters/granddaughters of Ris Key to This Cat Flys, our NCHA $$ earning son of Highbrow Cat (o/o dtr of Delta Flyer). (sold to Canada)

2010 we bred our Ris Key daughters fo multiple Congress Champion: Double Delta Olena (leased, returned to Kansas)

In 2011 and 2012 we bred most of the daughters/granddaughter of Ris Key to COLORED ME BLUE: a roan tobiano SON of the multimillion dollar cutting sire: Color Me Smart. "BLUE"is out of a FULL SISTER to the AQHA and NCHA legend: Peptoboonsmal (by Peppy San Badger). Roan tobianos are 100% color producers - all foals are roan and/or tobiano. (now deceased)

In 2014 we bred the majority of our mares to Pepsis Color Master. Pepsi's sire an accomplished rope horse (APHA roping point) by one of the all time cow horse legends - RR Riskymastrpiece (o/o a dtr of Doc Quixote). Pepsi's dam is a dtr of another APHA legend - Pepsi Poco.
Pepsi is a 15.1 hand, dble hz (black and tobiano) dunskin who is heterozygous agouti. (he has an equal chance of producing blacks and grullos and/or buckskins and duns)
We will also again start breeding A Breeze of Class - our grullo tobiano son of Ris Key Business - to a few more mares. We made the mistake of putting him on a back burner when we had his grullo hz tobiano son (DIaman H Risky LilPep - Little Breeze) came of age. Note to self: **Never sacrifice quality for color** (Sold the son to New York to help a lady start a private breeding program. Little Breeze has been in several different breeding programs since then, but I believe he's now in Texas or Oklahoma)

In 2015 we bred a half dozen mares to Diaman H Straits Boon. He's a 'home grown' blue roan tobiano son of Colored Me Blue (see above) out of a daughter of Strait From Texas. "Boon" is currently in training with Jack Wright of Penrose, Colorado. You can expect to see his name many times in 2017 if you follow APHA show results. He is VERY talented with TONS of potential. Add that to the fact he's with a world reknown trainer...... **Well, things didn't turn out as expected. Jack Wright broke his arm right before the 2017 APHA World Show, so unable to compete....and Boon is back home with us. (Sold to Texas)

2016 we added the black tobiano, double homozygous son of Ris Key Business - NO RISK - to our stallion line up.

2017 we boarded the World Champion stallion, QTsGold MasterCard on his trip between Secret Hills in California and Meadowbrook Stables in Nova Scotia. Boarding turned into leasing for the breeding season. (now deceased)

2018 we bred a couple mares to Diaman H Straits Boon (blue roan tobiano), a few mares to No Risk, and the majority to Pepsis Color Master. There will be 20 - 25 foals for sale in 2019....including a foal from Ris Key Business (frozen semen)(That Dam and in utero foal were sold to Brazil).

2019 we bred all of our mares to either Pepsis Color Master or No Risk.

2020 most of our mares are again bred to either Pepsis Color Master or No Risk. We did breed one mare (Diaman H Straits Risk) to a sorrel tobiano/splash son of Gunnit. (sold to Mexico)

In 2021 and 2022 we bred many of our daughters and granddaughters of Ris Key Business to The Storm Truper. "Truper" is a 15.3 hand double homozygous black tobiano SON of A Tru Rolex. Truper is not only the son of the leading open performance point earning stallion in APHA history, Truper is a performer himself. He has heading, heeling and steer stopping points. Truper is being leased from the Blue Diamond Ranch in Byron, Texas. www.bluediamondranch.com
We bred several mares to Pepsis Color Master and few mares were bred to No Risk.
This breeding season is running VERY long/late, with an INCREDIBLE number of outside mares bred to Pepsi and No Risk.

In 2023, we will have Pepsi and No Risk....but will add Tru Gay Bar Passion (Ringo) to our stallion line up. "Ringo" will fit right in with our current stallion, since he is a double homozygous grullo tobiano SON of the multiple world champion - Gay Bar Drummer out of a daughter of the multiple world champion A Tru Rolex. (Then add Shots Flying Spark and Passion Buck to the last line of his papers!)

Almost all of our mares have been broke to ride as 3 year olds (if only for 30 - 45 days) before going into the broodmare band. Extended pedigrees are available. If you see something you like, or want information on a past, present or future foal, just let me know. Any offspring we still have will be listed below that mare's bio. You can then access their info and photos on other pages - according to year of birth.

Depending on time of year, we do sell 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 combinations. Most of our prices are firm....however, if you are looking for more than one broodmare/riding horse we MIGHT BE willing to discuss 'package deals'.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE WE GET TO JANUARY OF THE YEAR A MARE IS DUE, WE USUALLY DON'T INCLUDE THE INUTERO FOAL IN THE PRICE LISTED FOR THE MARE**

If you see something you like, but don't have the cash up front - payment plans are an option, and a 25% - 30% deposit (minimum of $1000) will hold a horse. ASK for details.

Mares are listed in order of age.

We have tested our stallions for 7 genetic disorders. Negative for GBED, HYPP, HERDA, PSSM, MH, as well as IMM ...and they all tested negative for the frame overo gene (LWO)
We do not accept any mares in for breeding that are positive for dominant disorders - HYPP, PSSM, and MH.

HERDA and GBED carriers are perfectly acceptable as those are recessive genes and therefore will have ZERO affect on carriers and/or their foals.

We have 5 panel tested (GBED, HYPP, HERDA, PSSM, MH) our broodmares, and they are ALL negative for ALL dominant disorders.

ONCE WE GET TO WITHIN 4 OR 5 MONTHS OF THE DUE DATE OF THE MARE, WE USUALLY DO NOT INCLUDE THE IN UTERO FOAL IN THE PRICE OF THE MARE. HOWEVER - AS A GENERAL RULE - WE WILL INCLUDE A REBREED TO ANY OF OUR LIVE COVER STALLIONS. THE MARE WILL NOT LEAVE UNTIL THE FOAL BY HER SIDE IS WEANED. NO BOARD WILL BE CHARGED UNTIL WEANING. PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE, WITH FINAL PAYMENT DUE UPON WEANING OF FOAL. TRANSPORT TO TAKE PLACE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF WEANING, UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY TO BOARD HERE.

This is a very sweet, well mannered young mare. She is nice to be around, leads, loads, stands tied, etc. Current on all cares. Vaccine booster due in April (5-way + W. Nile) Good for farrier and vet.

This filly has a HUGE hip and pretty little head and ear.

Her sire is a 15.1 hand dble hz dun/buckskin (dunskin) rope horse with Ris Key Business/Pepsi Poco/Doc Quixote bloodlines.
Dam is a 15.1 hand daughter of 4 million $$ sire Color Me Smart, out of a gdtr Mr GunSmoke. We're pretty safe in assuming she'll be around 15/15.1 and weigh in the 1250 range at maturity.

This filly has incredible athletic ability. I believe there are many disciplines where she will excell, including most 'cow horse' events and/or barrel racing. She's also sensible enough to make a great trail horse. Once she's mature enough, her value as a broodmare will be appreciable - given her athletic potential, conformation, pedigree and color

No hurry to sell this one, as she's exactly what we look for in a broodmare. Pepsi is getting to the age where we are looking to keep back a few of his daughters.

This filly (Maybelline) has an untested splash gene from her dam. Her dam tested negative for SW1, SW2, and SW3. Like many of the splash white descendants of "Gunner" (Colonels Smoking Gun), Maybelline is deaf, although if you didn't know it, you'd never be able to tell....other than she's the only 2022 foal that doesn't spook/run when the deer hunters get a little too close to our property.

***UPDATE: UC Davis has confirmed the presence of the SPLASH WHITE 5 gene in Peggy Sue.***

I really love this filly and would like to keep her, but also realize that we can't keep them all.

Leddy is a big (15.3 hand) loveable girl with an outstanding pedigree.

This mare suffered a career ending injury in the fall of 2022 right before we brought her back home from the east coast (sold her as a yearling). She severed her extensor tendon. While she gets along just fine in the pasture, she will never be 100% sound. Our plans are to use her as a broodmare.

Now confirmed in foal to Pepsis Color Master for an April, 2024 foal.

This mare is tons better in person than in her photos, she's simply not photogenic. Big and stout, standing a good 15.2 and 1300 pounds with VERY heavy bone. Faline is not only a big girl, but a sweet, quiet girl with great ground manners. Faline is not broke to ride, but she was a VERY good mother to both of her previous foals.

**Test results are back and Faline is clear across the entire panel (including MYHM/IMM).
So we bred her to Pepsis Color Master. CONFIRMED in foal for a late July/early August foal in 2024.

Dreamer is currently our tallest (and possibly heaviest) mare. She stands at least 16 hands. We recently picked her up at a local sale (April, 2022) simply because she was too good of mare to pass up. She does have vision out of only 1 eye. This is a recent condition and so she is still trying to adjust. She is a maiden mare, previously used as a trail horse.

Peggy Sue gets the 'Best Personality' prize. What a sweetheart. She rides the same way. She has 30 - 60 days ride on her between November and December 2011 and is about as spook proof as any young horse you will find. I see 'kids horse' in her future. We put a lot more trail miles on her in 2013 (bottom photo), she's still a great horse to ride....but she can get buddy sour. Midge is a kind, sweet mare. She is affectionate and nice to be around. As her name indicates, she's a smaller mare. She stands 14 or 14.1 hands, and is an extreme athlete. She is a great mother.
We put 30 days ride on her when she was 3, and then put a few more rides on her at age 6 (2013) - just to see if she remembered anything after 3 years in the pasture, having a baby or two.

This is a marvelous mare. She is one of Ris Key's best looking babies. There is nothing about her that I would change, other than the fact she is a SPB. We've done all the testing on her, and she is negative for 5 panel, as well as splash, lethal, and tobiano genes.
She was broke to ride as a late 2 year old, then used as broodmare starting at age 4. She was given a year off again in 2013/2014 and was ridden extensively on trails.

Belle will not be bred back in 2020, she will be given another break from being a broodmare.

Spring, 2021....so Belle just tried to cut her leg off. She got hung up on a 'horse safe' pipe fence - kicking at a gelding, I'm sure, since she was in heat. We'd have been better off keeping her in foal....

10 weeks later, a lot of leg wraps and then a few weeks of Underwood's spray and it looks like Belle will at least be broodmare sound. UGH> Horses!

Belle has been leased for the 2023 breeding season. She has been confirmed in foal to Shootin For Chicks for her 2024 foal.

Belle will not be bred for a 2025 foal. She's getting a year off.

Oh, yeah....another double bred Ris Key 'winner', and another with very unique markings. We love this one's dam, we loved her dam's dam (and sire) - and we love this little filly as well. She is so sweet. She has that 'Ris Key' disposition - doubled - which makes her just a pleasure to be around. Good thing, too, because she's another one that will come find you in the pasture for a little lovin'
Easy to start under saddle. 30 days ride in November, 2008, bred in 2009 and used as a broodmare for a few years. Zipp is 5 panel negative. Not tested for frame overo, but assume she has that gene because of her markings.

We sent Zipp to a friend/trainer and now this mare is my favorite riding horse. Took her on a few trails over the summer of 2014 and Zipp never took a wrong step. She is bold, and quiet. Needs a very light hand, but otherwise should ride for about anyone.

Zipp is now MY full time trail horse.

This is one beautiful dun mare. She is so sweet and so friendly. Her dam is a massive gdtr of Colonel Freckles, and this mare has matured with the same type of body. She has been ridden about 45 days now, Most of it in the arena, as well as several rides down the road last summer(2005). She is very, very quiet. She has incredible potential as a rope horse, team penner, etc. She can easily be registered in the buckskin/dun registries. After 4 years in Mn, Tuff is back home. She's decided to take the last couple of years off from being a mother (which is why the owners were getting rid of her).

This is a gorgeous, big bodied mare. Super sweet, super friendly. This mare has not been ridden for a few years, but was well broke to ride. In fact she was used as a lesson horse and a teen aged girl's trail horse when we sold her to a vet several years ago. That was a good life for "Jaw". (I know, weird barn name, but there's a long story behind it). The reason she is NOT priced (not saying I won't sell her, but will be pretty particular on her next buyer) is that Jaw has also had a horrible life with a different buyer. That sale ended with a county sheriff seizing ALL this lady's horses (a nurse, no less) due to starvation. Not just 'thin', but starvation to the point two other horses we sold her either died in her care, or were put down shortly after. Thank goodness we got Jaw (and One Eyed Jack) back!! Again Jaw has a good life. As you can see from the photo, her weight is back to normal and she's very happy raising foals. Any future home for this mare will be VERY carefully screened. We try to ensure good homes for all of our horses, but obviously there are never any guarantees, in spite of those efforts....

Bred to The Storm Truper (double homozygous black tobiano roping point earning son of A Tru Rolex) for a guaranteed black tobiano 2023 foal.

Jaw's 2023 black tobiano colt has been sold.
It was an easy pregnancy and birth, but we'll probably retire her as a broodmare after this foal.

Tremendous mare. Extremely stout, heavy boned and correct. Beautiful head and ear. Good sized mare, with a personality that can not be beat. PLUS she's been blessed with her daddy's grulla coloring.

January, 2004....just put 30 days ride on her. She's quiet, she's sensible, and she's sweet.

Left open for 2023 due to late foal in 2022, and no discernable foal heat. We'll just plan on breeding her early in 2023.
