Ris Key Business foals
....left column.

If you have a particular interest in any of these foals, please inquire.  Also keep in mind that three in one packages are available on almost all mares/foals....at a considerable savings.

Our yearling foals are normally vaccinated in March, boosters given in April, and every spring thereafter.  We typically use Prestige V, and do vaccinate for W. Nile.  All these young horses are current on worming and trimming.  They are all 'real horses'  (pasture raised in a herd), however, they all have very nice ground manners ....... will stand tied for hours, stand very nicely for the farrier, lead very well, load on a trailer, etc.  While not normally confined to a stall, they are stalled for at least a week at a time when we work with them.  No bad habits or stall vices.  They are NOT open range horses, as most of them can be caught in the pasture, the rest can easily be caught by one person in a smaller pen.  (A little grain never hurts...)
Before they turn 2 years old, they are saddled, round penned, carry a tarp, etc.  We normally ride them during the summer/fall of their 2 year old year.

Diaman H Roulett Risk
Black tobiano filly
April 17, 2006
dam: R Hollywood Star (by Roulettes Hit Man)
Roulettes Hit Man - APHA Champion, multiple grand champion in halter, World/Reserve World Champion in reining, working cow horse and in freestyle reining.
Dam also has Dry Doc and Hollywood Jac 86 on her papers on the bottom side.
Very athletic, compact little girl.  I did register this filly as a black...but if you look very closely at the recent photo (fall 2007) beneath this text - she does have some brown around her nose.  Not sure if her dam's given her a creme gene (smutty buckskin) or if she's a dark brown, or ??.  The rest of her body is black. Regardless of color.....I'd sure like to see someone give her a try at cutting.  She looks like a natural to me.

Dam: Diaman H Ima RiskeyLeo - outstanding WP prospect with Ris Key Business/Norfleet/Tiger Leo bloodlines
$3500

Looking for a 'pocket pet'???  Here's an inquisitive little guy that will NOT leave you alone.  His dam was/is the same way.  This guy's pedigree is fantastic - he's a double bred Ris Key baby.  Take a close look at those markings!!  He's a great combination of conformation, disposition, markings, athletic ability, pedigree.  Perfect stallion material, or can have a truely remarkable gelding....

dam: Diaman H Zippa Zondra

Oh, yeah....another double bred Ris Key 'winner', and another with very unique markings.  Doesn't hardly seem like the same horse from the other side, does it? I'm guessing the APHA will register her as a tovero.....once again that means you are looking at at least 75% color producer - and that's if you breed her to a solid!   We love this dam, we love her dam's dam - and we love this little filly as well.  She is so sweet.  She has that 'Ris Key' disposition - doubled - which makes her just a pleasure to be around.  Which is good, 'cause she's another one that will come find you in the pasture for a little lovin'.

Diaman H Pepsans Risk
Black tobiano colt
born May 22, 2006
Dam: Peppys Fairy - by a son of Peponita and out of a daughter of Kingfisher
$3500

Looks like a real stallion prospect to me....  A black tobiano with excellent conformation that's an own son of Ris Key out of a daughter of Peppy Red Rio - an own son of Peponita (NCHA Champ '77,'79) Peponita is by the immortal Peppy San and out of a daughter of Poco Tivio. On Peppy Red Rio's dam's papers you can see the names Gay Bar King, Easter King (King) and Miss HOllywood (Hollywood Gold)
This colt's second dam is Fairy Fisher by Kingfisher - two names very well known for quality offspring.
Not sure what else you could ask for in a stallion prospect??

Black tobiano filly
born May 28, 2006
Dam: Noble Leona - by halter ROM earner Noble Challenge, out of a daughter of The Ole Tiger (by Tiger Leo)
$3500

You have to love the personality this girl exhibits.  You can probably see it in the photo....you can definitely see it in person.  She thinks she's about the coolest thing with 4 legs and is personally offended if you don't give her butt a scratch when she pushes it into you.  (I know, that's NOT a good thing once they get to 1200 pounds.  Been there.....done that.)  Great color and markings here as well as a pedigree that can go about any direction.  It will be interesting to see how tall she matures.  She has sisters in the 15.1 range......but I don't know if she'll get that tall??

Diaman H Magbars Risk
Black tobiano gelding
born June 2, 2006
dam: Diaman H Ima Cremello by Roses Flashy Joe and out of a Magnolia Bar/Hancock bred AQHA buckskin mare

This guy is very sweet, friendly and mellow.  He'll make a great riding gelding.  He also has an unseen 'bonus' as a stud prospect as he does have a 50/50 chance of throwing palomino/buckskin.  We'll have to see how this one matures before we make any final decisions on gelding him.  He's gentle enough that waiting a year or two shouldn't make much difference to his personality. He'll be a very easy one to start under saddle. Sweet boy and built like a truck.  SO STOUT!!

**update 11/16/07** gelded - (but his younger brother is a definite stud prospect, and also will throw palomino/buckskin!!  Check out the 2007 foal page)

Diaman H Two ID Risk
Black tobiano filly
born June 4, 2006
dam: Black Jacks Miss by (APHA legend)Blue Max and out of a granddaughter of (AQHA legend) Two Eyed Jack.
$3500

Nice, nice, nice looking little girl.  She's a daughter of Ris Key, out of a daughter of Blue Max with Two Eyed Jack on her papers.  There should be a more than just a little talent in this pedigree available for this girl to fall back on.  A lot of different directions she could go....
Love her markings.  She's showing those lacey overo edges on her tobiano markings.  She is VERY black and VERY unique.

She does ride pretty well, but is not for a beginner as she is a quick mare under saddle. She has produced a couple of b/w foals in the past and is an excellent mother. Diaman H Risk AChance
chocolate brown (smutty buckskin?) tobiano filly
born June 9, 2006
dam: Charge the Blues by AQHA champion Tip by Chance out of an Otoe bred mare
$3750

This filly will probably be one of our taller mares from Ris Key.  Her dam stands at, or near, 16 hands and is sired by the AQHA champion Tip by Chance.
TIP BY CHANCE is an AQHA Champion with 25 Open Halter Points, 14 Grands and 14 Reserves. As a yearling, he was Grand Champion Stallion at his very first show, and won several very large classes including 1/18 at the Nebraska State Fair and was 2/17 at the prestigious Kansas City Royal.
He earned 6 Open Western Pleasure points in only 3 outs, placing 3/20, 3/16, and 4/30.
He is also the earner of 10 Open Heading points in only 4 shows, placing 1/14, 2/21, 3/25, and 3/20
Ris Key has produced some very talented WP and HUS horses, and I dont' think it would take too much to make this another one.  Personally, I think she'll have the size, speed, and talent to catch any cow - and then stop it dead in it's tracks.
She's a chocolate brown color with buckskin around her eyes and muzzle.  I've registered other horses her color as buckskin with the APHA before - but it's always taken a lot of photos and a lot of hassle.   This time, I'm just calling her 'brown' and not dealing with it.  Her color, however, does indicate that she will throw buckskins and palominos.  Great personality.  If this one doesn't sell, that's fine, since I'm not so sure that this isn't a 'keeper'.

Look what I just traded for.....

TWO black tovero daughters of A Tru Rolex!  Full sisters, both homozygous black.  Neither one tested for homozygousity of the tobiano gene, but I will do that in the next week or so.  Price increase will reflect results of thoses tests, if either proves to be double homozygous.   Heck, even if they aren't homozygous, just being tovero means their foals already have a 75% chance of having 'color' (bred to a solid stud).

See the little sister on the 2007 foals page,.

2006 black tovero filly
Sire: A Tru Rolex
Dam: Dakota Double Dice

panda.jpg

For anyone that does not know of A Tru Rolex, here's a brief summary.  Ris Key Business' son, Strait from Texas, owned the rights to be called the all time leading open performance point earner in APHA history for many years.  Strait died last year.  Since then he has been passed in points by A Tru Rolex.  Now Rolex is the all time leading open performance point earner in APHA history.  Similar disciplines for both stallions......heading, heeling, steer stopping, and working cow horse.
A Tru Rolex has over 3,300 performance points with 3 Reserve World titles and is a 4x Congress Champion.  A Tru Rolex is a 2004 2x APHA Reserve World Champion; Senior Amateur Heading & Senior Open Heeling and the 2000 APHA Reserve World Champion-Junior Amateur Heeling.  He has 9 Superiors and #1 Honor Roll in 5 events.
I am looking forward to crossing Ris Key on this filly next summer.  While I'd like to wait another year or two - Ris Key is already 24 years old.  If I wait too long, it might just be too late!

LAST 2006 "Breeze" baby still here......and he's an outstanding stud prospect!!  Take a look at this.
Tough decision as he is still good enough to improve most herds - HOWEVER he was
gelded 11/16/07 - and price reduced to $1500.

This filly has been tested for the tobiano gene.  Test results show that she's one of those rare cases that has the tobiano gene, but does not display those markings.   She will, however, have a 50% chance of passing on the tobiano gene to her offspring, the same as any 'regular' tobiano mare.

This will be a good sized horse, I believe.  Should mature in the 15 - 15.1 range.  He's a nicely filled out, well mannered young gelding.  His dam is a buckskin/dun, a great trail horse, and confirmed in foal to Ris Key for 2007  (also for sale).

Diaman H Ris Key McCue
2006 red dun bs gelding
Dam: Mercury McCue (daughter of Buck McCue, Jr)
($1000/offer)

I'm going to assume this guy is going to mature in the 15 or 15.1 range as well, since his dam is in the 15.1 - 15.2 range.  Looking at momma and daddy - he should be one solid hunk when he's grown, no matter which side he favors later.

Diaman H Bay Risk
2006 bay bs gelding
Sire: Ris Key Business
Dam: Sheza Malbecs Legacy (daughter of Docs Malbec)

octbayr.jpg

Beautiful bay gelding that favors his dam's side, but still has that incredible "Ris Key" athletic ability.   Dam is daughter of Docs Malbec, (superior reiner and producer of superior wp and reining horses)  This geldings dam is 15.3 wp mare.  As a yearling he still has so much leg under him that I'm not going to be surprised if he matures at 15.3 as well.  This guy has that WP/HUS look, size and movement!!  I certainly wouldn't be afraid to give this guy a try at either reining or western pleasure.  Ris Key has produced champions in both disciplines......with not near as much help (bloodlines) on the dam's side as this one has!!   The only thing missing from this gorgeous, friendly gelding is a few spots.  Help yourself to a world class young gelding, with world reknown bloodlines, at a very small cost.

Diaman H Ris Key Play
Bay tobiano filly
born May 23, 2006
Dam: Playboys Star Bunny - AQHA (NCHA $$ earner, and DAUGHTER of FRECKLES PLAYBOY, out of a gdtr of Harlan)
$4250

This CUTE, stout little girl is a real 'go-getter'.  She's moving a million miles an hour every minute of every day.  She's as quick as a cat and twice as agile.  Probably our best cutting prospect in quite some time.  She also has the personality it takes to be a great one.

***UPDATE June, 2007***

Now selling as Broodmare and/or light riding horse only.  Turns out that the term 'horse safe fence' is an oxymoron.  This sweet girl has really done a job on her rear leg.   Fortunately, there was no joint involved, but she will have a permanent scar about midway down the cannon bone.  She runs, jumps, etc and keeps up with all her buddies in the pasture - and you do have to look closely to detect the 'hitch in her getalong'.  But it's there.  So much for her cutting career.....
If you need a good broodmare prospect, we are willing to cut her price in half to a good home.  Otherwise, she'll be a quality addition to our broodmare herd.
