Ris Key was in his late teens when these photos were taken.
Even at his advanced age, you can see why he was a halter champion in his younger days!
How'd you like to have him put THOSE muscles and THAT head and ear on YOUR babies!

Gorgeous grulla tobiano colt that has just been tested HOMOZYGOUS for the tobiano gene.  His sire is A Breeze of Class, our grulla tobiano son of Ris Key Business (mulitple world champion/multiple world champion sire), and his dam is an own daughter of Little Pepaleo (son of Peppy San Badger out of daughter of War Leo.  Little Pepaleo is a money earner ($16,000 +),  a Texas Classic Senior Breeders finalist, and a semi-finalist in the NCHA Open Super Stakes.).  This little guy has an incredible head and ear with that stunning grulla color.  Definite stud prospect with an outstanding combination of color, conformation, pedigree and personality.

4/5/07 30 days ride just finished......and WOW.  He's about the easiest horse to start we've ever had.  Extremely smart, willing and quiet.  Putting him out to pasture now, and we'll get him into cutting training in the fall.  Super, super nice.....

6/24/07  Cutting training started, and seems to be an outstanding prospect.
10/01/07 EXTREMELY athletic...showing the ability and desire to 'hook up' with a cow.
If this colt continues to progress at this rate - you'll be seeing him in Fort Worth!!

Price of $15,000 includes training through December.

2008 stud fee - $500

'Joe' is everything you look for in a foundation QH sire. He has very short, heavy cannon bones, large hooves, great hip and chest and beautiful head and ear. His look matches his 'old fashioned', versatile pedigree which contains many names found in the "Legends" books.
Joe is a sweet old guy that stands around 15.1. As an added bonus, he is throwing more than his share of dark palominos and buckskin foals.

'The Breeze' is a muscle bound athlete with a wonderful, intelligent personality. In spite of the fact his immediate pedigree is one of the most popular in the working horse industry today, (overwhelming all competitors in the Roping and Working Cow Horse classes), and his color is the hottest thing going in the APHA, it's his personality that really sets him apart. He is kind and gentle to all other animals as well as people. We take him directly from the broodmare pasture to trail ride with the family. He is giving this wonderful intelligence and willing attitude to his offspring.
His stud fee is  $500
(We do have multiple mare discounts.)

I can't say enough good things about this guy.  He's a very young stallion with more sense and good manners than most geldings.  You can walk him through a pasture of mares in heat and not get a reaction from him.  This guy has a gorgeous light gold color, excellent bones - straight and heavy - and look at that tiny little head and ear!!  He looks halter (stands 15.1 at age 2, and does have a full brother with halter points), but is bred to do cow work.  He has at least two 1/2 brothers that have been used in the PRCA for roping/steer stopping.  We've bred him to just a couple of mares this spring (2006) and will continue to ride him through the fall and winter.  He rides just like all our 'Joe" (Roses Flashy Joe) babies always have - with tons of 'try', great athletic ability and speed - and rarely a buck in any of them.  With his laid back attitude, he might just become my new, favorite, trail mount.  Don't need a gelding to ride when you've got a stallion that has the disposition to handle two jobs!

twisterside.jpg

Sand Peppy Twist (Twister) sire - Dun It With A Twist, was raised on the historic Cross Bell Ranch in northern Oklahoma. By $3 million sire Hollywood Dun It and out of the great Peppymint Twist, whose cutting earnings exceeded $260,000, everyone knew he was special from the start.

Katsy Mecom and Tim McQuay were partners on the flashy palomino and Katsy kept him on the Cross Bell Ranch near Copan, Oklahoma until he was a late yearling. The stallion's talent became apparent almost immediately.

Shortly after Tim started riding him, he was sold to Jennifer Easton of Stillwater, Minnesota. Later, when McQuay-Easton, LLC was formed, that partnership bought Dun It With A Twist. Together, "Twister" and Hollywood Dun It make up the Dun It Dynasty.

When it came time to show Dun It With A Twist, he quickly began to fulfill the promise of his great heritage. He won the Tradition Futurity. Next, he became the NRHA Futurity Open Co-Reserve Champion, scoring 223. In total, Dun It With A Twist has lifetime NRHA earnings of over $99,860 with very limited showing.

Perhaps just as importantly, Dun It With A Twist is proving to be phenomenal sire. As of 6/2005, he has produced earners of over $179,303, and multiple futurity champions.     reprinted from - http://www.mcquaystables.com/breeding/stallions/DunItWithATwist.htm

Twister's dam is an NCHA money earning daughter of Mr San Peppy out of a daughter of Colonel Freckles.  MR SAN PEPPY

This pedigree is as strong in every direction as I've ever seen.  Whether you want to cut, or rein, this stallion has the pedigree to win.

Twister is a well built, nicely mannered stallion.  This horse is extremely well broke.  He's been used on cattle and has had reining training....however, he has not been ridden now for at least 6 to 8 months.  He was used this past season (2006) to breed a couple of mares.  Twister is a gentleman to handle and will pasture or hand breed.

Twister will produce various combinations of dilute  babies (palomino/buckskin/dun/grulla) on at least 75% of the mares he is bred to, since he does carry two distinct dilute genes (creme and dun factor).  We will continue his training, and then breeding him to a half dozen of our own mares in the spring of 2007.

 Breeding fee for 2007

$750, plus mare care.

2008 breeding fee reduced for May, June - $400

twisterbutt.jpg

Notice the nice dark dorsal all the way down his backbone...and partially hidden in the darker hair on his legs are tiger stripes.  The dun factor gene is what gives Twister that chocolate palomino appearance.  He appears even darker in one photo simply because he was still wet from his bath.

First and only 2007 foal - for us (only mare we bred to Twister that did NOT sell before foaling).
NICE colt/gelding.  Excellent conformation.  Gorgeous head, ear.  Good, solid bones.  Nice attitude. Buckskin, with MAJOR dun factor (so many stripes he looks like a tiger - his 'barn name' is Tony)....out of bay tovero gdtr of  Ris Key.
(for sale @ $1500)

New Virginia, Ia  50210

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: We are just off Interstate 35, about a half hour south of the I-80/I-35 intersection in W. Des Moines.
So....take I-35 to the exit marked as the New Virginia exit (at mile marker 43). Head east off the exit, this pavement (207) will take you to New Virginia, and then directly past our house. Just remember not to turn off that highway, as it does curve a couple of times in town. The last curve is just on the outskirts of New Virginia and turns you north - at that point the highway is R-45 Hwy. We are just under 2 miles north of New Virginia, on the left (west), at 21888 R-45 Hwy. Most distinguishing landmarks are the 2 large pines at the head of our drive. We have white pipe fence, a gray house, a white w/gray trimmed broodmare barn right beside it, and a large gray riding arena/stables a bit past them.
